Applied Sciences Workshops (ASW)

FABLAB is an acronym of the words Fabrication Lab. The concept of FABLAB emerged in MIT University in 2005 then expanded to the world particularly in the industrialized countries and states aspiring to move from developing countries to industrialized countries.

FABLAB workshops aim to achieve the following:

  • *To change the society’s point of view and reorient it towards industries and the ability of manufacturing by spreading the culture of manufacturing in the Kuwaiti society.
  • To encourage the largest possible segment of the society to access to the field of industry and numerical manufacturing. This type of manufacturing does not require handiwork but technological and IT skills through training on the latest technologies and equipment.
  • To create a knowledgeable generation familiar with modern technology that is capable of producing technology.

FABLAB General Regulations and Services

Sabah Al Ahmad Center follows strict safety rules and observes general morals. It does not tolerate any acts that may jeopardize the life of any participant or has any adverse effects on the societal components.

FABLAB comprises the following technical divisions:

  1. Electronic Workshop: This workshop provides electronic equipment and consulting services to the entrepreneurs who are members of the workshop. Moreover, it provides an integrated training program divided into (beginners’ courses, advanced courses, professional courses – specialty courses).
  2. Production Workshop: The production workshop provides equipment and tools for the manufacturing of metals, wood and plastic and different types of primary material as well as welding methods and consulting services to entrepreneurs who are members of the workshop. Moreover, the workshop provides an integrated training program divided into (beginners’ courses, advanced courses, professional courses – specialty courses).
  3. Painting and Technical Finishing Workshop: This workshop provides painting tools, paints, grinding equipment and material related to the final finish product models as well as consulting services to entrepreneurs who are members of the workshop. Moreover, the workshop provides an integrated training program divided into (beginners’ courses, advanced courses, professional courses – specialty courses).
  4. Computer and Engineering Design Workshop: The computer workshop provides software, hardware and electronic libraries for software, engineering designs purposes as well as consulting services to the entrepreneurs who are members of the workshop. Moreover, the workshop provides an integrated training program divided into (beginners’ courses, advanced courses, professional courses – specialty courses).

Official Working Hours

The official working days of the workshop management are from Sunday to Thursday. Working hours are as follows:

* Morning Shift: 8:30 to 12:30

* Evening Shift: 5:00 to 8:00

Weekends and Public Holidays are observed
