This sector provides support and sponsorship to individuals with ideas that may be converted to innovations and inventions. It seeks to encourage those persons to achieve excellence and creativity by providing them with all services and means of support including training, enhancement of creativity culture in the society, converting concepts to inventions, and protecting their innovations by directing them to patent offices to get such projects patented by globally certified entities.

This support comprises a number of programs as follows:

First: Inventors Support and Sponsorship Program

This program is aimed at encouraging individuals to believe that the human component is the key success factor for any creative activity. Such individuals are the owners of ideas which in turn are converted into tangible inventions. The Center provides all the services and means of support throughout the following subsidiary programs:

  • Protection of patents
  • Training and qualification
  • Invention development
  • Investment of patents

Registration and Inspection Section:

It is one of the Innovation Department’s sections. It is the first portal for the invention registration, support, and sponsorship. The Registration Section provides a detailed explanation of the Center’s registration policies, development and marketing, while providing the applicant with a brochure that explains standards and policies. It also includes the forms to be filled by the applicant. The inspection process is carried out through investigating the presented idea locally and then sending it to the patent lawyer to be deposited in one of the internationally accredited offices to obtain a patent certificate.

Evaluation and Development Section

It is a division of the Innovation Department concerned with the businesses of the second portal. The Section evaluates the patented invention from a technical and engineering perspective. After approval, the development contract is signed before signing the industrial prototype, then the first prototype is manufactured and the invention is technically inspected and tested after making the industrial prototype, carrying out a legal and financial study on the idea and the possibility of applying it in practice preparing for the third portal subject to the following standards:

  • Analyzing the patent’s or product’s draft.
  • Examining indicators of success or failure of product/idea.
  • Examining the product idea.
  • Initial solutions and explanatory diagrams.
  • Initial engineering drawings.
  • Potential Opportunities
  • Conclusion and recommendations.

Second: Creativity Governance Program:

This program aims at forming a base that contributes in the development of inventions and creations in collaboration with the relevant State entities, converting, adopting and fully supporting the ideas that can attract and motivate the investment capital companies and Kuwaiti investment companies. This program will lead to the development of small enterprises from the concept to the implementation and commercial promotion.

Third: Applied Science Workshop and Technical Design Program (Invention Development)

This program is aimed in creating awareness regarding technical creativity culture and providing the proper environment for production including the necessary devices and equipment required to design and manufacture inventions and converting them to products. The workshop is to encourage the largest potential segment of society towards experiencing and learning the concepts of industrialization and numerical manufacturing. Numerical manufacturing is a process of manufacturing that’s requires almost no manual skills but relies mostly on technical skills and computer knowledge and to create a generation that is conscious of new technology and can put it into use. Ultimately, enabling that generation to produce technology rather than being solely an end user. The workshop achieves the above mentioned objectives through the following:

  • Engineers and technicians specialized in inventions development.
  • Industrial engineering drawings.
  • Three- Dimensional Drawing (Solid work – 3D Max)
  • Conducting training courses: (Safety – AutoCAD – CNC – Solid work- 3D printers- Robotics)
